This specification applies to 1-4.2 kV metal-oxide surge arresters used to protect against lightning and switching overvoltage the input circuits of the locomotive.

The surge arresters are of the gapless Type, due to the non-linear characteristics of the resistors.

Application                                                                      

Protection of DC power networks against both, multiple atmospheric and switching overvoltages as well as Very Fast Transients

(VFT). Suitable for the protection in railway applications.  Can be used mechanically as support insulator or as suspension

insulator in case of application as line arrester. For indoor and outdoor installation.
