Under normal conditions, when there is a lightning strike, lightning current and operating over-voltage current pass through the line-suspended polymeric housed MOA of 10ï½110kV range, the disconnector will not be activated due to the special heat-induced separating device; but if the surge arrester is malfunctioning, the disconnector will be activated and cut off the connection with transmission line automatically, thus ensures the continuous power supply. The system’s maintenance-free is realized.

Line suspended polymeric housed MOA with serial gap of 110ï½220kV range includes ZnO surge arrester and serial gap. During a lightning strike, when lightning current pass through, the serial gap come into operation, it reduces the electrical potential difference between tower top and line, prevent insulator chain flashover and line power switch off. The serial gap can blank-off automatically after the lightning current disappeared.
